ACTIVITY

A deliciously worthwhile activity in the Cedar & Yellow Point area is to find the markets and food-related farms in the area. Drive your vehicle through the quaint narrow roads to these highly regarded farms and markets, i.e. Cedar Yellow Point Farmer’s Market which is open on Sundays 10 am-2pm; McNab’s Corn Maze & Produce Stand; Hazelwood Herb Farm, Fredrich’s Honey, and Yellow Point Cranberries

 

LUNCH

Driving along the farm fields and picturesque countryside deserves a break! How about stopping at one of these great eating establishments?

 

The Crow & Gate Pub – English style country pub that is a favoured destination for locals and tourists alike.

Wheatsheaf Pub – Great place for outstanding food, loved by the locals.

 

ACTIVITY

Cedar & Yellow Point area has great artists and artisans. Many of the artists use the local materials, soils, and inspiration to complete their works of art. Conveniently, drivers are able to visit many unique and beautiful studios, gardens and shops and appreciate the work put into making these different forms of art. Locations include: Kleijn Nurseries & Garden Centre, Yellow Point Blooms, Yellow Point Stained & Art Glass Studio, JoVic Pottery, and Monika’s Quilt & Craft Shop.

 

DINNER

After perusing the culture of Cedar & Yellow Point, relax and be served by these local establishments.

 

Mahle House Restaurant – Second-generation, family-owned and operated Restaurant.

Slice Resto – Serves its own unique twist on casual comfort foods.

 

ACTIVITY

After a busy day of appreciating the farm fields and countryside drives it is time to take in the splendour of the forest by visiting Hemer Provincial Park. There are 11 kms of easy walking trails through the forested and marsh areas. Remember to bring your camera and take photos of the local wildlife, mainly birds of this region.

Serious Coffee – Popular for their hot coffee and tea as well as their famous lemon bar and Nanaimo Bar.

ACTIVITY

Try taking a swing at one of Nanaimo’s best golf courses by playing at Cottonwood Golf Course. This golf course offers golf cart and club rentals and has beautiful, sprawling views over the golf course.

 

LUNCH

Since you are already at the golf course, why not sit back, relax and enjoy a bite to eat.

Try completing the Cedar & Yellow Point self-guided tour by visiting these fabulous spaces, i.e. The Jolda Gallery, Honeysuckle Gift Cottage, Lohmann Gallery & Giftshop and the Yonder Wood Studio.

Enjoy The Crow & Gate Pub which became the first neighbourhood pub in British Columbia, or gather ‘round a table at the Bold Knight Restaurant and enjoy all your favorite things.

ACTIVITY

After a great meal how about going out to a popular 2.5 km trail at Jack Point & Biggs Park to take in the sunset, wildlife viewing and excellent views of downtown Nanaimo and Mt. Benson overtop.
